Originating from a family tradition of more than half a century, the FIGURINES D'ART EDITIONS VANOT
was created in February 1980 by Patrick and Marie Laure VANOT. It was initially established in Paris 18th, then in Normandy near Sainte-Mère-Eglise in 1983, and finally in Talmont-Saint Hilaire, Vendée in 1995.
The figurines which we propose are presented in two forms: - "Prestige Series" figurines - Original figurines
Series figurines
The series figurines are created by using moulding. From an original subject made by hand, each one will be cut up into several parts so as to facilitate the unmoulding. These different parts will then be moulded in rubber. The foundry is obtained by centrifugation of a tin alloy in the mould. Each element will be assembled by welding, then, the figurine thus obtained will be finely decorated with an oil-base paint. This process makes it possible to produce copies.
2) Original figurines
An original figurine is entirely made by hand. A rough shape, sort of model, is created to give the structure and the attitude of the selected subject. This silhouette is then thoroughly dressed, each part of the clothing is worked in very fine tin sheet (1/10 mm) and fixed by welding. The accessories are manufactured one by one and welded onto the figurine. Painting completes this work which requires much skill, precison, and patience. This method makes it possible to create all kinds of subjects without the problem of moulding and realistically reproduces the fullness and drape of the costumes.
